Differentiation

In business, companies compete based on value propositions and product differentiation (sometimes hard features, sometimes soft). Customers use these promises and features to distinguish, amongst a sea of choice, and in an environment where it can be hard to tell any difference between product A and product B.

In leadership, the playing field is level. 24 hours/day. 168 hours/week. 10800 minutes/week. We all have exactly the same resource available to us. It’s how we choose to spend this equally distributed resource that distinguishes us.

For today’s leader the question, “what do I do next?” is huge. Amongst 30,000 minutes worth of opportunities, we only get to choose 10800.
