Encouragement helps me thrive

Yesterday a colleague (and friend) called to recruit me to his team and sell his vision.  But, as we talked, he expressed that more than the items on his agenda, he cared for me and wanted to know how I was doing personally.

I wrote him today,

Thanks for taking the time to call yesterday and be concerned for how I’m doing it.  Yesterday was a rough day and so your call expressing care and that you believed in me came as a great pickup.

I appreciate our friendship.

Resolved.  I need to work hard at encouraging others and drawing out the best and helping them thrive.  I want to become the kind of person who does that.
